How to Make Colored Ice Balloon Balls

February 22, 2015 By: Wendycomment

Want to try something other than build a snow man? Here’s a neat winter time activity for the kiddos.

a title here

I saw this idea on Facebook a while back and thought it was so cute I just had to try it with the boys! I intended to come up with a real snazzy name for this activity but Colored Ice Balloon Balls, is pretty much all I could come up with. 🙂

Here’s what we did:

We put a few droplets of different food coloring in each balloon then filled it with water. We decided to do one with no food coloring, that way we’d have a clear one.

We put the water filled balloons outside to freeze. Then, cut the balloons off after they freeze and wallah! Some cute, colored ice balls to give an awesome color contrast to all the white snow! (I wouldn’t recommend the kiddos throwing these but I’m sure they could roll ’em down a hill or something). We placed ours on an ice-covered hay stack right outside our family room window, so we’d have something colorful to look at!

Do you have any neat winter activities we could try?
