The Best Monthly Calendar for Kids

July 29, 2015 By: Wendy2 Comments

Hey friends,

If your family is like mine, by choice or necessity, you’ve got busy schedules. Even though we personally strive to not live a harried life in this inevitably hectic world, we’ve got multiple kids and life’s happening, whether we like it or not! There are doctor’s appointments, kids’ parties, special holidays, extracurricular activities, vacations, family obligations and the list goes on. I’ve used a variety of calendar systems for the kids over the years, but this one’s my favorite thus far.  It’s done all the work for me and because it has pictures and words, both my readers and non-readers can use it with ease. My boys use it to keep track of our family schedule, and keep me on my toes, so I don’t forget the important things like their friends’ birthday parties! Lol. Introducing the Melissa and Doug Magnetic Monthly Calendar. Have a look see!

Melissa & Doug Magnetic Calendar

Here are some of the magnets that come with with calendar. There is a blank one to write in your own event (see the “Lego” written there?) :). Pretty neat, huh?

I keep it by the door in the boys’ room, they check and make adjustments to it each morning. The calendar has some weight on it, so I made sure to hang it up with a strong command hook like this one.

How We Use It

Each month the boys put the month, year, and date magnets on, then they look at our Master Family Calendar to see what’s coming up and put the appropriate magnets (doctor’s visit, play date, etc.) on its date. Having their own calendar, spurs them on to independence so in a few years, they can graduate to a “grown-up” calendar and keep track of their own important events and appointments.
